NAGA @ 10 Tuesday, September 05, 2017 12:00 PM 15 Days

The City of Naga has been considered as one of the top most susceptible areas to Rain Induced Flashfloods and Landslides. And while the rainy season is upon us and La Niña threatening even further heavy rainfalls in the region, the Cebu Provincial Government, through the PDRRMO and PIO, in partnership with Smart Communications and the Department of Education conducted a La Niña Information Campaign at Barangays Lutac, Balirong and Lanas.

The aim is to raise the school children's awareness and preparedness when La Niña sets in bringing typhoons, floods and other related hazards to the community. Pupils and students, ranging from grade 3 to 2nd year high school were selected to participate.

The activity started with getting to know the personnel from the Provincial Information Office and their speakers. It was also good to see the support of the Barangay Officials who joyfully participated. The pupils and students listened attentively to the short discussions and video presentations. They were also taught an action dance to further reinforce the campaign. They were in for a playful simple question and answer activity. A representative from Smart Communication gave away umbrellas as prizes to those who answered correctly. (J.Garrido)
