Dengue is fast emerging pandemic-prone viral disease in many parts of the world according to the World Health Organization. It is a mosquito-borne viral infection causing severe flu-like illness and sometimes causing a potentially lethal complication.
In line with the Department of Health’s campaign against dengue, the City of Naga’s fight against the said disease is rigid through its City Health Department. The City has established and conducted “Operation Kulob and Larvaecidal Activities” that aim to search and destroy potential breeding sites for mosquitoes such as tires, bottles, coconut husk and the like.
Also, Antimos powder, a mosquito larvicide, is being poured on relatively clean open or stagnant waters to control mosquito larvae.
Misting is also part of the campaign thru its Sanitary Team. It will be done to areas particularly with cases of dengue. Misting is already conducted at Brgys. Balirong, Mayana, and Uling. Other potentially high risk areas will be scheduled for misting activities
Everyone is called to take part in this quest. Let us hand in hand fight dengue. (Jeff Kevin G. Navales and Aladin A. de Gracia)
