MAYOR VAL GETS FRESH MANDATE, AS TEAM PADAYON NAGA DOMINATES CITY POLLS

Mayor Valdemar M. Chiong received a fresh mandate with a commanding 63,102 votes, a testament of his enduring leadership in the City of Naga, Cebu.

Also, the re-election bid of incumbent Vice Mayor Virgilio โ€œJing-Jingโ€ M. Chiong was a breeze as he ran unopposed for the vice mayoral race, garnering 56,492 votes. 

Meanwhile, Team Padayon Naga remains a force to be reckoned with in the cityโ€™s political scene. 

The teamโ€™s councilorial slate, mostly reelectionists, dominated the 10-seat City Council. 

Second-termer City Councilor โ— Clint Isidro A. Chiong clinched the highest spot with 45,849 votes, while Councilor-elect โ— Amelita M. Lara ranked second with 38,890 votes. 

Lara replaced her late husband, Councilor Alex R. Lara, a local radio personality, who passed away in November last year due to a serious illness. 

Taking the third spot is Councilor โ— Dominador A. Libor who got 37,688 votes, followed by โ— Anecito B. Alinsonorin, a newcomer, with 35,998 votes, while reelectionist Councilor โ— Carmelino โ€œJunjieโ€ Navales Cruz, Jr. completed the top five slots with 35,875 votes. 

Filling up the remaining legislative seats are as follows:

โ— Elmer John R. Lapitan. โ€“ 35,707 

โ— Justino L. Dakay. โ€“ 35,106 

โ— Ray A. Manabat โ€“ 31,905 

โ— Letecia F. Abangan. โ€“ 31,415 

The Comelec City Board of Canvassers officially proclaimed the victorious Team Padayon Naga bets on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 past 9 am at Enan Chiong Activity Center. 

Guided by the cityโ€™s โ€œService With A Heartโ€ mantra, Mayor Val, in his short acceptance speech, expressed his thanks to the Nagahanons and assured to never fail their expectations with this new mandate.
