We are glad that your local sangguniang has been given a space in this platform, as it will serve as a new venue for information dissemination and online social interaction.
This page contains SP’s news and events, vision and mission, newly enacted city ordinances and resolutions, and complete information of the SP members, including their chairmanships and memberships of the different standing committees. Undeniably, our city has already earned the distinction as one of the fast rising LGUs in Cebu following its unprecedented growth and development for the past two decades. However, there is so much to be done for our progressive city.
Thus, I deemed it proper to call upon all the good people of Naga to also do your share for us to cope with our city’s growing demands and, likewise, protect its economic gains for the recent years. Your City Council will continue to work hand in hand with our counterparts in the Executive Department by enacting measures aimed at enhancing our programs especially in the fields of education, health, infrastructure development, environment, peace and order and disaster response.
I am confident that we can make things happen by helping each other as one community, a vital key towards a better and stronger Naga in the years to come.

CITY EXTENDS RICE AID AMID EL NIÑO CRISIS
The City Government of Naga, Cebu will start distributing this week ten (10) kilos of rice to every Nagahanon family as part of its relief assistance to alleviate the adverse effects of El Niño. The distribution of rice bags came a month after the City Council held a special session on April 04, 2024 approving Resolution No. 1174-2024 which formally declared the entire City of Naga under a state of calamity following the recommendation of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The declaration of a citywide state of calamity will authorize the Office of the City Mayor to gain access to the calamity fund and use it for relief and rehabilitation assistance to the affected city residents. The families of Barangay Alpaco, an upland village, were the first batch of beneficiaries to receive the rice subsidy, which was held at the barangay covered court on Thursday, May 09, 2024.
Members of the 5th Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) and a City Hall composite team came in full force to personally assist the distribution of the rice aid to the recipients totaling 1,360 families. Alpaco Barangay Captain Rogelio C. Ababa heaped praises on Mayor Valdemar M. Chiong for taking the initiative of providing such a quick relief assistance to his constituents, majority of whom are agricultural crop farmers.
“We truly appreciate the initiative of Mayor Val. This 10-kilo of rice is indeed a welcome relief for us to at least soften the negative impact of El Niño,” said Ababa in his welcome speech. Speaking on behalf of Mayor Val, City Councilor Clint Isidro A. Chiong assured that the City Government will continue to provide relief assistance to the Nagahanons, whose daily sustenance and sources of livelihood have been adversely affected by the El Niño phenomenon.
Councilor Chiong, the SP Presiding Officer Pro Tempore, also sincerely expressed his appreciation to the attending residents, saying their presence was an indication of their positive response to the various programs of the City Government. Apart from Alpaco, the rest of the barangays comprising the first batch that have been scheduled to receive rice assistance this month are as follows: Balirong, Cabungahan, Cantao-an, Cogon, South Poblacion, West Poblacion, North Poblacion, Central Poblacion, East Poblacion, Naalad, Tangke and Colon.

Tumong sa declaration sa State of Calamity nga mas mapadali pa sa atong syudad, pinanguluhan ni Mayor Val Chiong, ang pagpatuman sa mga proyekto ug kalihokan nga makahatag kahupayan sa katawhan sama pananglit sa pagpalit ug dugong water tankers aron mas subsob pa ang pag supply nato ug tubig sa mga kumunidad, pagtabang sa kabumberohan panahon sa sunog, pagpalit ug mga tambal panagang sa sakit nga dala sa tumang kainit, assistance alang sa sector sa agrikultura, dugang social services ug uban pa.
Sa laing bahin, kusganon ang pagsuporta sa Sangguniang Panlungsod sa mga lakang nga ga-awhag sa Commission On Audit (COA), Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) ug uban pang ahensya aron ma-recover ang Salapi sa Lungsod nga nawala diha sa opisina sa Treasury. Nakighiusa ang Bise Mayor ug mga Konsehales kang Mayor Val sa pagpasaka ug tukmang sumbong batok sa mga responsable, ingon man nga mabayran ang nawala nga salapi sa LGU, ug pag-improve pa sa sistema sa financial controls aron malikayan nga mahitaboan ang LGU pag-usab.
Isip katambayayong sa mga buhat pagpalambo, ilabi na alang niadtong labaw nga nanginahanglan sa serbisyo sa gobyerno, padayon nga nagdasig ang Sangguniang Panlungsod sa mga barangay sa pagpasar sa ilang budget. Andam kita nga mohatag tambag ug giya sa atong mga kaubang opisyales sa kabarangayan mahitungod niini.
Kon atong sumahon, ang atong mga kalihokan ning panahona pinasubay sa atong pangandoy ug paghatag katumanan aron ang NAGA ANDAM pagsagubang sa mga emerhensiya, katalagman ug uban pang pagsuway ug hagit sa kinabuhi. Kinahanglan gayud ang pag-inalagaray, pagtinabangay ug pakighiusa – mga pagtulun-an sa milabay nga Semana Santa, mga pagtulun-an nga makatabang sa mga Nagahanon, mga pagtulun-an nga makapahimo nga ang NAGA ANDAM.
